We Are All Treaty People: Stitch your own Treaty 6 Needlework Sampler

Wednesday, October 1 to Wednesday, November 5 from 6–7:30 pm (14+)

What does it mean to be a Treaty person? What is the history and legacy of Treaty 6? And how do treaties continue to impact us all today? Over six weeks, explore what Treaty means to you by engaging in meaningful conversations, personal reflection and creating a needlework sampler. Each week, a different aspect of Treaty 6 will be discussed, and you will use the suggested patterns as a jumping off point to stitch a design in response to the topic.

Needle-Felted Monsters

Saturday, October 4 from 1–3 pm (15+)

Create an adorable monster or character out of colourful wool roving in this beginner needle-felting program! You can sketch out a basic design in pencil and then learn how to turn your sketch into a fuzzy, three-dimensional fibre-art character. You can bring a sketch or idea from home or find some inspiration from our reference images and sample projects at the studio.

Bead an Orange Shirt Day Pin

Saturday, September 20th, 10 am to 4 pm (14+)

Learn the basics of beading using the single-needle technique to make your own Orange Shirt Day pin and learn about the significance of Orange Shirt Day. All materials will be provided and no experience is required.

Figure Drawing – Open Studio

Tuesday, October 21 from 6:30–9 pm

Come practice your figure drawing in this non-instructional model session! Working from the live model, you can explore figure drawing as you wish, using your favorite materials. Studio equipment such as standing easels, table easels, boards, newsprint paper and pencils will be available, but you are encouraged to bring your own paper and media for exploration. An instructor will be on hand to set the pose, lights, and tend to the model. 

In these 2.5-hour sessions we will have a quick gesture warm up and then either 1 or 2 poses, breaking midway for 10 minutes.
